Original Civil War patriotic cover featuring a compact but striking multicolor design titled “SUMTER – UNION FOREVER.” At center is a portrait of Major Robert Anderson, commander of Fort Sumter, encircled by a laurel wreath and framed by crossed American flags in red, white, and blue.
This small-format cover (approx. 3.5" x 3") carries bold patriotic symbolism despite its size, celebrating Anderson as an early Union hero following the bombardment of Fort Sumter in April 1861. The vivid hand-colored flags and balanced composition make it especially appealing for display.
An attractive and historically significant piece tied directly to the opening chapter of the Civil War.
