Vintage Mauchline pin cushion with image of George Washington's headquarters in Morristown, New Jersey. On the reverse it says 'Made of Wood which formed the shingles of roof of House at which Washington head his head quarters  Morristown, N.J. 1780.  Original. 

 

 

 

Historical Notes

General George Washington rented this home (built in 1774) for the winter of 1779-1780, during the Revolutionary War. Consequently, the Ford Mansion, one of the finest homes in Morristown, became the General's military headquarters during this time.
