Historical Notes
The 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago was marked by intense protests against the Vietnam War. Inside, Hubert Humphrey secured the nomination without competing in primaries. Police clashed violently with demonstrators outside, an event famously broadcast as the “whole world is watching.” The turmoil reflected deep divisions within the Democratic Party.
