Historical Notes

The "I like Ike" slogan was coined by a political advertising executive named Rosser Reeves, who worked for the advertising firm, Ted Bates & Company. Reeves believed that the key to creating a successful political campaign was to keep the message simple and memorable. He came up with the "I Like Ike" slogan as a way to promote Eisenhower's likability and to emphasize his personal qualities, such as his charisma and approachability.
