Original delegate badge from the Republican State Convention in Iowa. There are three pieces of this gold-colored delegate badge. The top bar on the badge reads “Delegate.” The middle piece is a bald eagle. The final and largest piece is cast in the shape of Iowa with an elephant in its center. It says “Republican State Convention, Des Moines, Iowa, July 10, 1912.” Democrat Woodrow Wilson defeated William Taft in the election. Nice piece of Iowa and Republican history.

Historical Notes

Theodore Roosevelt lost the Republican nomination to incumbent William Taft.
