Original press release issued by The White House Press Secretary Jody Powell after the historic signing of the Camp David peace accords between President Jimmy Carter, Menachem Begin Prime Ministor of Israel and Anwar Al-Sadat President of the Arab Republican of Egypt at the conclusion of Camp David Summit. 10:30 p.m., September 17, 1978. Seven pages. TItled; "The White House Exchange of Remarks Between The President, His Excellency, Menachem Begin, Prime Minister ofIsrael and His Excellency, ANwar Al-Sadat President of teh Arab Republican of Egypt at Conclusion of Camp David Summit".
The histic event took place in secret over twelves days at Camp David. President Carter's comments included, "When we first arrived at Camp David, the first thing upon which we agreed was to ask the people of the world to pray that our negotiations would be successful. Those prayers were answered far beyond any expectations..."
