1947 Jimmy Carter Naval Academy "Lucky Bag" Yearbook. Massive 540 page yearbook from the U.S. Naval Academy with photo and bio of a young James Earl Carter. The yearbook bio lists his hometown as Plains, Georgia and included such comments from classmates as "Studies never bothered Jimmy. In fact, the only times  he opened his books were when his classmates desired help on problem. This lack of study did not, however, present him from standing in the upper part of his class". In fact Carter graduated "with distinction".  Since this was just two years after the end of World War II, the yearbook includes many patriotic messages and photos, a couple of which are shown here. Original.

Historical Notes

After graduation, Carter was assigned to the USS Wyoming as an ensign.
