1828 John Quincy Adams Signed Missouri Land Grant – Boone County – Franklin Land Office – 80 Acres. An original United States land patent issued during the presidency of John Quincy Adams and personally signed “J. Q. Adams” as President, dated May 1, 1828.
The patent grants John B. Gordon of Boone County, Missouri, an 80-acre tract described as the West Half of the Northwest Quarter of Section 20, Township 48, Range 12, within the district of public lands offered for sale through the United States Land Office at Franklin, Missouri. The document states that Gordon had deposited the appropriate Land Office certificate establishing that full payment had been made for the property under the provisions of the Act of April 24, 1820.
During John Quincy Adams's presidency, signing federal land patents was still quite literally a presidential duty. Adams's own diary provides a fascinating glimpse into the volume of paperwork involved. On January 19, 1828—only a few months before this patent was issued—he noted that the Commissioner of the General Land Office sent him “almost every day two or three” land grants to sign. Five years later Congress relieved Presidents of the task of signing land grants and delegating that authority to surrogates.
Signed at the conclusion “J. Q. Adams” by President John Quincy Adams and countersigned by George Graham, Commissioner of the General Land Office. The original embossed paper seal remains at lower left. Five years later Congress the task of signing land grants
Of additional interest is the extensive recording and indexing history on the reverse. The patent bears numerous manuscript docket notations as well as a later recorder's certification dated January 24, 1920—nearly 92 years after Adams issued the patent. These later markings apparently document the patent's entry and indexing in local property records and provide an unusual visible record of the document's continued use in establishing the property's chain of title.
Comes with our 100% money back guarantee of authenticity.
Early federal land patents are particularly desirable presidential documents because, prior to March 2, 1833, the President was still required to sign them. John Quincy Adams even noted in his 1828 diary that the General Land Office sent him land grants “almost every day” for his signature. Congress changed the system in 1833, authorizing a secretary to sign patents in the President's name. Thus the “J. Q. Adams” on this 1828 patent represents Adams's presidential signature rather than the secretarial signatures encountered on later land grants.

Thank you ever so much for the Presidential Inaugural Invitation. I was moved because it means so very much to me. I was in Washington D.C. last year during the inauguration, however, I had been hoping to eventually obtain something this special (I even wrote to my Congressman and others). Again, thank you so much and may you have continued success in your business in the coming years.

I appreciate everything - the speedy response, the customer service, and of course, the product itself. Often, I'm skeptical and think that online testimonials only post the positive feedback, or even make up feedback. I can tell from the service I received that not only were these testimonials legitimate (just like your products), but it is likely they are all so positive because I can't imagine you getting a negative review.
Thank you so much. It was a pleasure working with you. This is how customer service is supposed to look and it is so refreshing! I'll certainly be back to purchase additional gifts for my history-buff boyfriend in the future.
