1969 Nixon–Agnew Inaugural Metropolitan Police Badge (Numbered, Silver Finish)
Unusual silver-tone badge from the January 20, 1969 inauguration of Richard Nixon and Spiro Agnew, inscribed Metropolitan Police D.C. with the U.S. Capitol beneath an eagle crest. Unlike the more familiar gold badges of this year—which are unnumbered and show a reverse die impression—this example carries a stamped number at the top and a glossy, plain reverse. Collectors debate the origin of these numbered pieces: some suggest a special commemorative or limited presentation run, while others believe they were privately struck after the fact. Either way, they remain an intriguing variant that highlights the diversity of inaugural police souvenirs.

Historical Notes

This is from the Nixon and Agnew's first term inauguration.
