1912 William Taft National Republican Club Notification Committee Invitation Card. "The National Republican Club cordially invites you to meet Hon. Charles D. Hilles Chairman National Republican Committee Members of the Notification Committee and to join in the ratification of the Re-nominations of William Howard Taft and Vice President James Schoolcraft Sherman, Wednesday evening, July thirty-first at half Past Eight O'clock. Informal Dress. 1347 Pennsylvania Avenue." With raised gold seal at the top. Original.
On March 4, 1909, William Howard Taft was inaugurated as the 27th U.S. president. A severe blizzard forced the ceremony indoors to the Senate chamber. Despite the snowstorm, the inaugural parade proceeded after 6,000 workers cleared 58,000 tons of snow from the route.
