This is a very scarce complete and original Press Kit from the Texas Welcome Dinner originally scheduled to be held in Austin Texas on the date that turned out to the day that President Kennedy was assassinated and the event was canceled. This is the official press kit including the presentation folder with the Great Seal of the United States on the cover along with fourteen press releases distributed to members of the press in advance of the event. The press releases outline the schedule of events for the day, background information, releases describing the number of tickets sold to the event, list of welcoming committee members, and the announcement of the route President Kennedy's motorade would take to the event. etc. One particularly prophetic and haunting release starts out with the words " When Mrs. John Kennedy visits the Texas White House with her husband Friday afternoon a new bit of Texas history may well be written". Unfortunately, the author could not have been more right, as John F Kennedy's visit to Texas will be forever remembered by all Americans. Orignal.
The actual press releases inside the presentation folder are in very good condition with minor edge toning and marks. However, the outside of the presentation has condition issues (see condition decription below).
From the text of one of hte press releases:
"When Mrs. John F Kennedy accompanies The President to Texas next week it will be her first visit to the Lone Star State and her first official trip since the death of her infant son last August".
