1896 Scarce Republican National Convention Michigan Delegate Badge. We have seen several different badges over the years from various state delegates to the 1896 Republican National Convention, but we don't recall ever seeing one issued to a Michigan delegate before. Michigan is noted at the bottom of the ribbon by the inclusion of the state seal of Michigan and "Michigan" beneath the seal. Has signifiant condition issues (see below) but certainly a very scarce badge. Original.

Historical Notes

McKinley's campaign strategists worked diligently behind the scenes to secure delegates, employing innovative techniques like conducting polls and coordinating a "front porch campaign" where McKinley made speeches from his home in Canton, Ohio, to reach a wider audience.
