Historical Notes

The slogan reflected Sharpton's effort to present himself as a candidate representing the entire nation rather than a single constituency. Although best known as a civil rights activist, he emphasized issues such as economic fairness, voting rights, healthcare, and opposition to the Iraq War while arguing that his campaign spoke to the interests of all Americans.
