Civil War Patriotic Cover Seal of the State of New York Eagle Excelsior Envelope.
Original Civil War patriotic cover featuring the beautifully engraved Seal of the State of New York beneath a large American eagle with the motto “E Pluribus Unum.”
The detailed design includes the New York state coat of arms with the famous “Excelsior” motto and a finely engraved patterned background in red ink. Patriotic covers featuring state seals were popular during the Civil War as expressions of state pride and loyalty to the Union.
New York played a crucial role in financing, supplying, and supporting the Union war effort, making New York-themed patriotic envelopes especially desirable among collectors.
