2001 White House Luncheon Menu Honoring South African President Thabo Mbeki.
Official White House luncheon menu honoring Mr. Thabo M. Mbeki, President of the Republic of South Africa, held at The White House on Tuesday, June 26, 2001, during the administration of President George W. Bush.
The elegant menu features the embossed gilt Presidential Seal at the top along with gilt gold edging, both hallmarks of authentic White House dining menus prepared for official diplomatic and state functions.
This luncheon reflects an important period in U.S.–South African relations during the early post-apartheid era. Thabo Mbeki, who succeeded Nelson Mandela as President of South Africa in 1999, was a major international figure and key political leader on the African continent during the early 2000s. Original.
