1974 Ford White House Program from the State Dinner in Honor of German Chancellor Schmidt. The State Dinner was held December 5, 1974 at The White House in honor of His Excellency Helmut Schmidt Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany. The meeting Tthe meeting between Helmut Schmidt and Gerald Ford was an important moment in the history of U.S.-German relations. It marked the beginning of a close partnership between the two leaders and a renewed commitment to cooperation on a range of global issues. The entertainment for the evening was provided by Joel Grey.
