1956 Stevenson vs Chandler Demonstrators Clash at Chicago Campaign Parade. Interesting photo of the clash between supporters of Adlai Stevenson and Kentucky's Governor Happy Chandler in Chicago, August 13 1956. The photo shows a Stevenson supporter with a large sign and a democratic donkey with a Stevenson sash around its snout trying to parge in on a parade being held by Chandler supporters. The photo also shows the work done by the newspaper editors ont he original photo and on the reverse it shows two slightly different ways that the newspaper showed the photo in its August 14, 1956 edition.

Historical Notes

Albert "Happy" Chandler Sr served as the 44th and 49th Governor of Kentucky.
