Original printed pamphlet printed by the United States Printing Office for the 86th Congress. It is essentially a summary of expert views before the subcommittee on problems of the aged and aging of the Committee on Labor and Public Welfare of the United States Senate. The hearings were held June 16-19, 1959. Interesting sixteen page pamphlet discussing the aging of America and many of the same topics regarding social security, longevity etc as we hear today.
By dollars paid, the U.S. Social Security program is the largest government program in the world and the single greatest expenditure in the federal budget
