Original Associated Press WirePhoto from September 5 1949 taken in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where President Harry Truman spoke before a crowd estimated at 100,000 at Allegheny Country Free Fair. In his speech Truman defended the 81st Congress and promised to carry on the fight for repeal of the Taft-Hartley Act. Look at the top of the photograph and you will see a motorcycle on the high wire ready for its act at the fair! On the reverse is the official Associated Press stamp, as well as a typed caption. This photo comes from the archive of a daily Pennsylvania newspaper.
