1899 invitation held by the Union League of Philadephia in honor of the United States Peace Commissioners, William Day, Cushman Davis, William Frye, George Gray and Whitelaw Reid. Original.
From the collection we recently acquired of a former Pennsylvania member of the U.S. House of representatives, to whom this invitation is addressed.
Commissioners from the United States and met in Paris on October 1, 1898 to produce a treaty that would bring an end to the war after six months of hostilities.
