Wendell Willkie was a corporate lawyer and the Republican candidate for U.S. President in 1940. He ran against Franklin D. Roosevelt, advocating for U.S. aid to Allies in WWII before Pearl Harbor. Despite losing, Willkie's campaign helped shape American foreign policy during the war.
