1950 President Truman White House Renovation Official Numbered Type 1Photograph. The original label on the reverse reads "White House Renovation. View along south side of White House to the South Portico from the southwest corner. Except for the corner, the concrete underpinning columns along this face were completed with caps. March 27, 1950 (1200-9c)" The official photograph on the renovation of the White House are being taken by Abbie Rowe, photographer, National Capitol Parks, Dept. of the Interior. Stamped March 27, 1050 and handwritten code 1200-9C) at the bottom right. Original.

In 1950, President Harry Truman oversaw a major renovation of the White House after structural issues made the building unsafe. The interior was completely gutted, leaving only the exterior walls intact. .
