Interesting story by Kara Voght of The Washington Post that discusses the use of the Autopen machine in light of today's supposed "scandal" regarding whether presidential bills and other documents signed by autopen are actually valid. Lori Ferber Collectibles provided some background assistance to the Washington Post on this story.
The author raised the question "It has been a tool of convenience for many administrations. How did the autopen become a "scandal"? For over a century presidents resorted to secretaries, rubber stamps and autopen contraptions to sign various documents and even answer requests from school children who, as part of a school project, wrote to the president asking for a signed photograph.
