Handwritten note written and signed by President of the United States, Governor of California and screen actor Ronald Reagan. This note, written in Reagan's own hand, is to an "old friend" Al E. Schwabacher and is signed "Dutch", his nickname typically reserved for his close friends. Reagan obviously received numerous letters from people claiming to be old friends of his, and written at the top is a note to his personal assistant Kathy Davis that Says, "Kathy - this one really is an old friend". Reagan thanks the friend for the grapefruit gift and jokes that its not a political bribe. Reagan would often write notes like this in answer to letters and gifts he received and hand them to Ms Davis who would then type them up for the then Governor Reagan and send the completed letter to the recipient on behalf of Reagan. The letter reads in "Dear Al - Thanks very much for the grape fruit - I accept with full knowledge it isn't a political bribe. Seriously they are delicious & appreciated. Nancy & I hope to and dream that one of the these days the pace will let up and we can have that dinner in S.F. Again. Thanks and All The Best Dutch" A very unique and personal letter from the man who would later lead the Republican party and become President of the United States for two terms during the 1980's. On the reverse Ms. Davis asked Governor Reagan, "do you call Mr. Schwabacher Al?" This letter was acquired by us directly from Reagan's Kathy Davis's personal collection and comes with our 100% guarantee of authenticity.
