1864 Civil War Soldiers Presidential Election Official Ohio Ballot Tally Sheet Envelope. Postmarked November 12, 1864 with  bullseye postmark on original 3 cent stamp. . Pre-printed with "Presidential Election" at the top left and Tally-sheet at the bottom left. Addressed to the Clerk of the Court of Mercer County, County Seat, Ohio. The evelope is slit open at one end and the tally sheet was removed.  These envelopes and contents were used to record election ballots of Union Civil War Soldiers in the field.  The outcome of the election was a victory for Abraham Lincoln. Original. 

Historical Notes

In the 1864 election, no electoral votes were counted from any of the eleven southern states that had joined the Confederate States of America.
