Truly exquisite badge issued as part of the welcome home celebration for the the role of the 13th Minnesota Volunteer Regiment in both the Spanish-American and Philippine-American War's, 1898-1899. We have seen just one of these buttons (disk) before and never with the attached ribbon and topper. The topper shows clasped hands with gold trim. Beneath are two 3-D ruffled american crossed flags mounted on a tan silk ribbon. Below, hangs the tri-gate button (disk) featuring photos of President McKinley, Mayor Gray and Governor Lind with american flags behind and a graphic of the Minnesota State Seal within a shield and the text 13th Reg. Minn. Vol's at the top. Beneath the above is the text Chairman / Transportation / Committee. Origina, in very fine condition.

Historical Notes

President McKinley ordered the volunteer soliders in 1898 from the Phillippines and reaching Minnesota in October. They were welcomed home by Minnesota Governor John Lind and President William McKinley during which time the attached badge was issued, commemorating the volunteers' return.
