Scarce impeachment ticket to the trial of President Richard Nixon. ''Impeachment Proceedings. Consideration of Articles of Impeachment Against the President of the United States in the House of Representatives 93d Congress". Dated August 19, 1974. with the printed signature of the Speaker of the House of Representatives Carl Albert. Ticket stub, still attached.'' Nixon's resignation on August 9th made the tickets, which had already been printed, obsolete and highly collectible. This ticket was never used since Nixon resigned as President on August 9th. Original.
On August 9th, 1974, President Richard M. Nixon resigned in the wake of the Watergate burglary scandal. He was the first president in American history to resign.
