1917 "War With Germany" Speech of Hon. Robert La Follette of Wisconsin in the Senate of the United states, April 4, 1917. Official U.S. Government Printing Office pamphlet of the speech presented by La Follette two days after President Woodrow Wilson asked Congress for a declaration of war, La Follette delivered a passionate anti-war-address in Congress. He argued that the U.S. had failed to maintain true neutrality by treating British and German violations unequally. He also feared war would crush domestic progressive reforms.32 page pamphlet.
