1896 Democratic National Convention Page Ribbon Badge. The convention was held in Chicago, Illinois and nominated William Jennings Bryan for the party's nominee for President. Gold on brown and  meant to be distributed to a Page at the convention. In a somewhat unusual move, the name of the Sergeant at Arms at the convention, John I. Martin, appears at the bottom of the ribbon.. Original. 

Historical Notes

The 1896 Democratic National Convention, held in Chicago, nominated William Jennings Bryan for president after his famous “Cross of Gold” speech. The convention saw a deep divide between pro-silver and pro-gold factions, with Bryan’s free silver platform prevailing over incumbent President Grover Cleveland’s gold standard policies.
