This is an original program from the 1881 Inauguration Ball of James Garfield as President of the United States. Often considered the most beautiful of the early inaugural programs, this sixteen page booklet was produced in bright multiple colors which is unusual for this time period. A number of years ago several of the programs were discovered, but since then these have become increasingly hard to find. Based on the assination of President Garfield just months after his assassintion, any memorabilia items issued during his term as Presieent have been increasingly difficult to find. Includes the oiginal tassel.
