Civil War Patriotic Cover – “Jeff Davis Alarmed” Satirical Cartoon. Featuring a humorous caricature of Jefferson Davis perched anxiously on a fence rail, startled by an imposing eagle behind him. Captioned “Jeff Davis Alarmed,” the scene pokes fun at the Confederate leader’s unease in the face of Union strength. The exaggerated expression and rustic setting enhance the comic effect, typical of Northern political satire. A scarce and engaging example of Civil War-era humor used to undermine Confederate leadership. Unused and original.
