Original ticket to the historic Impeachment Trial of the President of the United States Bill Clinton. 106th Congress.. On this date, January 14, 1999 thirteen House prosecutors begin a three-day opening statement, laying out the case for the Senate to convict President Clinton and remove him from office. The reverse of the ticket lists the rules for the session. Stamped date on side of ticket. In 1999, for only the second time in United States history, the Senate conducted an impeachment trial of a President.
